scottoiler

Post by lmao_37 »

i have a scotoiler fitted by the privious owner and its not routed to well on the bottom half of the frame/engine, well i have rerouted the top half but whats the best route for the oil pipe to go as at the mo it goes round the lefthand side of the engine case and gets heated up and then the oil gets very thin and covers the bike in oil and leaves nice big black patches on the drive any one know a better way of routing the dam thing :(

Mine used to come down the left subframe,
then to a mount behind the heel guard
then along the top of the swingarm before dropping down next to the chain adjuster

But I wasnt happy with this so rerouted it down next to the shock ,
through the gap in the swingarm for the shock
along the inside of the swingarm
then down and out to the sprocket
This looked much neater and had far fewer problems

But I eventually got fed up of it altogether, ripped it out and went back to manually cleaning and lubing the chain

Mike

Thats neat, I like the chainguard bit -very ingenious

Its just the end bit that is a bugger to get right isnt it
My one through the adjusters worked well but the one inside the swingarm got on my tits as I change the wheels quite a bit and it took some time for it to settle down and stay pointed at the chain afterwards

I asked at my local about buying one, but was told people were having so much trouble with them that they'd stopped making them.

Does anyone know if this is true?

No, it's just the scotoil being flung off the front sprocket. Take off the front cover and give it a good clean in behind it.

Nope, still going strong. Made in Glasgow and from what I've heard are a first class company to deal with if you have problems.

Ta for that, Cupa. I'm a shocker at remembering to oil the chain. I'll have to chase this up.

Thanks laugher. I'm about as slack at ebaying as I am at oiling my chain, but I might get there one day...
