Alternative to Roger
Alternative to Roger
Anyone who's been on this forum will know the respect in which Roger at Revolution is held for his suspension expertise. However, he is also a little bit out of the way for those of us who don't want to (don't know how to) take off our forks and mail them to him. Is there a 'Roger' nearer to us in the Midlands/South? Perhaps Roger could enter into an agency arrangement and rent out his expertise? Or is the solution to be found elsewhere on this site and I'm too technically illiterate to tell?
I'm not sure i've anderstood your question. but i can explain you, if you want how to take off the forks since i made it 3 weeks ago. it's just a question of time if you want to do it yourself, and you'll save money (more than you think...). i'm far to be good in mecanic, that's why i think you can do it yourself if i managed.

Rogeing
You could always go up on a saturday m8, he charges an extra #50 for whipping the forks out and doing the job. That 50 notes also gets your forks refitted, raised through the yolks and your static sag etc sorted. All a bonus if (No disrespect) your not over confident in ripping out minor things like suspension etc :-)
Cheers
Tony
Ps, it would take around 90 mins - 2 hrs to ride to Revolution from leicestershire or there abouts, it will take you 4 to get back as you go and find twisties to enjoy the transformation in handling :-)

I have spent some time recently thinking about the same problem. I live in Cambs and whilst I would like Roger to do the work (as he's so highly recomended) or Maxton, they are both a little too far.
I found a guy in Newark, Mick Gardener Racing, an Ohlins specialist who was very helpfull. In addition, I found a company in Letchworth, Herts, Performance Techniques who have been very helpfull and friendly. They are also Ohlins specialists. After a tour round there factory I was quite impressed. Neil Faulkner who races in BSB is an employee of the Company and a knowledable guy too. Their Ohlins guy used to work for Harris! I hope this has been of some help.

For those of you in Sunny Devon you could do a lot worse than visit Steve Whitear at Peak Performance in Exeter. He has a lot of satisfied customers now running road and track bikes with these sorts of suspension mods.

He doesn't know it yet but there is a certain yellow VTR heading his way for some Ohlins fork springs and new valves as soon as I can find the wonga (are you reading this Santa?)

Hi all,
What I really meant was that I can't be arsed to take the forks out. I spent my early years keeping old bangers on the road - you know the scene, everything rusted, nuts rounded, getting dark, cold, can't feel your fingers and you need the b8stard to get to work in the morning
I'm too old for that crap now - it's easier just to write a cheque...
Anyway, keep the messages coming. I know suggesting alternatives to Roger is sacrilege, but I did suggest he could make a few bob selling his secrets. In fact, are these secrets? What do you get for your money? And if it's so bleeding obvious why doesn't Honda just do it from new - trying to keep some distance between the Storm and the (£3000 dearer) SP2 perhaps?
