Just got led rear light with built in indicators ive blown all my 10 amp fuses 8O 8O   ive had to cut the original light bulb connectors off wich will give me 6 wires joined up wires to corrosponding colours which then gives me 3 wires.

3 wires coming out the led light red, black, yellow then 2 wires for indicators got it all wired up indicators working lights on but no brake light, when you use the pass light the brake light seems to work im really confused :? :? any ideas anyone ?????

Had the same thing with my rear light

At the end of the day you've got 3 wires on the bike
earth
lights on
brake light

And 3 on the light
red
black
yellow

Being diodes if you measure the resistance from one to the other you can work out which way the current is supposed to flow
ie if red -> black gives very low resistance
black -> red gives infinite resistance
then you need to connect earth/ negative to black and lights or brake to red
You should only get 2 low readings and they will both have a common colour (probably black)
Then its a case of guessing whether yellow is brake or light by connecting it up and seeing whether it works properly or inverted

That all said, I just connected one to each and kept swapping round til it worked correctly
There's only 12 possible permutations :-)
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

sounds to me like youve got the wiring to the light and brake light the wrong way round and your brake light is working as your running light . if so youll no see any brake light cos the running light will be too bright lol if you get what i mean

So go on then....How many of Ben's permutations (or fuses) did you get through before you hit the right combo?

the 3 wires that power the light not including indicator wires are

yellow
red
black

i always thought red was live but thats why i'm not a sparky

your left with 6 wires when you cut the 2 brake light plugs off, these are

2 browns
2 greens
2 green/yellow stripe.

i blew more than 10 fecking fuses bought some from local honda shop 55p each as said before blew them, went to Rufforth following day bought 10 for 2.50 bargain

in the end the yellow from the light goes to brown on bike and i forget where the others goes as i said i just connected them without even thinking about it and it worked   but tried the day before bloody loads of different ways with no joy.

ps simple when you know how innit??????

lol glad ya got it sorted mate !!! nice touch , red does mean live on the ole british wiring on 230v ac now wot wi "harmonisation " god knows lol and i'm a spark !!!

was gonna suggest that if yer not elektrickery competant  a good method of wiring is to use a strip of connectors then ya can connect up each light one at a time afore makin yer final terminations ,,, that way if it dont work you can unscrew and try again in another terminal ..

another thing i noticed on bikes and on car wiring is only to use manufacturers colour codes as a guide!! :? no 2 manufacturers use the same colours , plus an get this !!! wiring looms even on the same model of bike and car can differ ooo errr , if yer loom is wired in britain the earth can be black , but the same loom put together in say germany , the earth could be green or black or yellow , red even bloody pink !!!

now ye know why auto sparks charge so bloody much lol an fair play to em too
Allways in the sh1t !! , its just the depth that varies ;o)
