Blowing Bulbs

Post by Kitch »

Bit of fault diagnosis help required.

Blown 2 headlight bulbs (not filaments, glass housing exploded blown) in the last 2 weeks.

Possible causes?

Might just simply be condensation geting in (both times have been in the garage during alternating hot / raining weather) or something else?

Just unlucky?

Will be fitting some HID lights very soon, so don't want to be blowing much more expensive bulbs if theres an issue needs fixing.

Iirc didn't another member from here have a similar problem, when he went to change the bulb he found he had a cracked headlamp body, which consequently meant the actual headlight was holding water. I expect you can get the picture now, when he hit a big pit in the road the water splashed up which caused his headlight bulb to explode :!:

You best check to see if your h/light has any water inside it, that's if you haven't already :!:
