VTR1000, firing on 1 cylinder, choke stuck, please read

Get that tiling finished all scrappy and out off line. She'll not ask you to do any more DIY after that and that'll give you more time for the VTR!!!

Have ridden behind Matt before on my 'old' VTR and those cans are such that at traffic lights you can feel the power pulses hitting you in the face with the visor up when sitting behind him!!!
He said it cleaned up the bikes caburation and pulled better with them in place especially after I balanced the carbs for him so........................... :D

As to the Speedo Healer I have to do a run with the Sat Nav that'll give me a constant speed so say 70mph indicated giving a true Sat Nav reading of 65mph. The SH will correct that error perfectly. Very good device. Sorted my last one with a 15t front and it became incredibly accurate. Perfect 30 @ 30, 50 @ 50 etc all the way up to the (ahem) autobahn indicated 100mph which was in reality 99.5. Brilliant device with the top speed recall button too.
Takes no time to fit at all.

Hi guys, sorry not been online for a while, had loads of stuff to do, then ended going to London last week for some work, need to pay bills, lol.

Anyway, got the Storm running, sweet as hell, I think I am going to get a carb balancer to check the carbs, just sounds a little off, I think, then this is my First V-Twin, been out on the bike for a little runaround, getting used to her, totally love it.

Have just sorted mine out properly on the new bike.
I have a brass 5mm insert as a permanent fixture on the front carb. Connected to this and the 'T' take-off from the rear vac line are pipes made out of the 'kit' shown below.

The pipes are brought across to the left side of the bike and the 'injector plugs' supplied have cut-off golf 'T's superglued in place as blanking plugs. They can easily be accessed or tucked out of the way!

Damn good idea LSM

Helped a mate of mine re-balance his throttles yesterday (TDM900 Injected) after it'd come back from the shop having had some clever gadget fitted which involved disturbing the injectors / air intakes.
He'd noticed straight away it wasn't running right and knew it'd be the balance or lack of it.
Has his own mercury tubed vac guages and wouldn't trust the shop to have done it anyway (Shouldn't they have checked when they re-assembled? maybe they did!).
Connected it up and they were 'miles' apart.
We then had to remove seat, side plates, front fairing panels and lift the tank to get to the adjusters.
Now perfect.
Having fitted your labour saving device, I assume you can only check the balance by this brilliant shortcut and would still have to remove various items to get to the adjusters on the Storm.
Must admit it's not something I've done, even though I totally rebuilt my Storm, I wouldn't be able to tell anyone where the adjusters are or how to get to them without looking it up.

You don't have to remove anything to get the balance right.
I use the (eBay type) kit with the two 5mm plastic adaptors screwed into the carb balancers plastic tube. This enables a quick push fit/remove and no bother.


For adjustment use a shortish FLAT blade screwdriver (electrical terminal sized one is fine).
Once you know where to put the driver it is fairly easy.
The pic below shows the adjuster screw for balance as the screw with springs holding the two carb's linkage together in synchronisation. It is the piece below the large circular (return) spring off the rear carb and just above the green sensor connection. It was stripped down like this for reasons other than carb balance ha ha.
