Legendary Firestorm Tank Range

Post by clutchmonkey »

Just returned from a fantastic trip through France and Spain to watch the MotoGP and have been very surprised by the tank range. Used super unleaded all the way and the best I managed on the way home (at reasonable motorway speeds and no luggage - horrah for going with mates in cars) was 155 miles and the reserve light only came on about 15 miles ago.

Not bad for a 16 litre tank.

BTW brief summary of trip and lessons learned:

Race was amazing.
Pilot Sport 2, bleeding fantastic in the wet.
Rue Napolean - incredible road.
Police stop you on a Bike for 'just being in Casino Square in Monaco'.
Watch out for pick pockets at Barcelona train station.
Backside can just about cope with 470 miles in one day.
10 year old Firestorm didn't skip a beat and loved every minute of the 2,300 mile trip.

Roll on next years trip to Mugello :D

<<<<<<<< jealous

best race of the season.

There was a few guys camping next to us in Mugello that were making a holiday of it. One weekend Mugello, a week touring down to Spain and Spanish GP next weekend. Sounds like a blast.
Rich.

One day when I feel brave (!) I want to go from a full tank to empty with a spare container of fuel to see what she'll actually do. Maybe on the way to the West Country Sirch

Best I did before running dry was 124. Had I been going more steadily earlier then perhaps 130-135.

Well if the weather holds back I have some 600 odd miles to travel soon on a short touring holiday.
Might try the run dry thing if I feel safe/secure about running out. Best to have one of these aboard.
