Newbie - questions - ignore if you want

Post by i_love_twins »

Hello, just registered cos my insurance cheque came thru this week and Im looking for a new bike (prat in a golf tried to drive under my Sv) - so looking very seriously at Firestorms. I know the tank range is generally gash, but what should I be looking for in terms of problems on used bikes? Any other advice? Want to stick with a twin, want more oomph (but don't want the fear factor of a TL, or the insurance costs for that matter). I can wield spanners a bit - redundancy made for a year of intensive learning curve on the old suzi. so don't mind a bit of serious tinkering.
Can't think of owt else - Friday, bored, beer tonight.

Welcome aboard mate,

Generaly speaking firestorms are pretty much the same as any other second hand bike, check for servicing, general maintenance etc, If you find one that has a few extra's like cans, suspension that has been modified, screen and brake lines then it would be worth paying a few extra quid for it as these are the sort of things that you would end up doing to it your self. you will find the gearbox rather "notchy" compaired with the SV this is normal. Other than that general rules apply is it straight? has it been cared for? blah blah blah.

Hope you get sorted and if you have a problem then there's always some one here that can help.

Good call on the "friday and it's beer night"  I'm off harassing young Girlies in sheffield tonight!!!!

Going to me mums for tea after work - she misses me bless her. But the missus is away for the weekend, so out tomorrow. Will take me dad out for a pint or five tonight as well.
