Bit of help please....

Post by pearlorange »

I have had a few problems with cutting out and general lumpy running since I have had my storm, it has had a service prior to collection from a good dealer, it's since then been back in the workshop and had the carbs balanced, carb jetting checked out, new plugs and timing also checked out, it ran ok for about 200 or so miles then started playing up again.

Getting hacked off now and seriously thinking of going back to an in-line 4, trouble is I really like the feel of her when she runs well.

Appreciate some tips, also the right hand exhaust is cold compared to the left.

Kev.

Hi Paul

Took the bike for a run earlier and was fine..yesterday and over the weekend was lumpy and stalling, too eratic to enjoy riding anywhere, I use the bike sometimes to go to work in Reading trouble is I am now very concious of when it's going to play up again.

Check the plug leads out for any cracks or splits and also the sidestand switch can sometimes play up.

I had an erratic problem then I realised it only happened after I had washed the bike and when it got warm. The front plug cap had a crack in the rubber boot and capillary action was effectively cusing the moisture to short out the plug. Took ages to find, but worth a try?

If you have a misfire it can occur on an inline 4 just the same as on a V Twin!
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!
