Advice required for damaged engine casing

Hello,
I had an accident almost two years ago (pending court case still ongoing!) & damaged VTR has sat in garage since accident.

I have spent in excess of £1500 on parts and its been a long project. Went into garage yesterday and saw a small pool of fluid under bike (not sure whether it's engine oil or leaking rear shock). However on close inspection found a piece of casing missing from the engine. The part of the engine casing that has broken off is where the rear shock absorber linkage (Y piece) attaches to the engine, the long bolt which goes through the Y piece and engine casing is hanging down on the right side where the alloy bolt hole on the engine has broken away.

Can this be repaired or does it look like an engine rebuild / engine casings?

My line of thought at the moment is a secondhand engine, which of course would be an unknown commodity.

What ever happens the lump is goint to have to come out anyway. Most casings can be repaired by someone who knows what they're doing. Seeing as your in chichester I'd look about for a prop refurbers/repair's company who have loads of experience rebuilding mankey props for boats. Most will take the job on if they think they can do it.

If you have nay luck then give me a shout as the company I use for mine are in Wandsworth SW london and have taken on work like this for me and pretty damn good at it they are too.

At least the engine is not a lost cause and there may be hope for it yet.

I am formerly from Battersea and know Wandsworth very well. I don't mind travelling up to Wandsworth to use the company you highly recommend.

I do seem to remember a similar report from another members accident.
I would guess its because all the weight is slung under the frame and hangs on these mounts . they then take the movement during an accident.

motor out and assess damage, it might be ok but may be a weak point possible get it welded in situ just to keep everything in line.

I use them on a yearly basis to refurb my props for the boat. They've also repaired damaged casings for me. IIRC they charged me about 30 odd quid to repair a cracked engine case.
