Hi All,
Just picked up a 2001 VTR Firestorm (yellow)
what i have notied is the fan isn't working and when i tried to spin it by hand it is rubbing agaisnt the casing that it sits in.
Is it possible to remove the fan without taking the radiator and side panel off?
Thanks in advance.
Matthew

BEFORE you start messing around with the fan, please disconnect the battery
10 fingers is a nice round number & especially useful when counting in decimal base 10
The usual cause for the fan sticking is a stone or road muck wedged between the fan & the housing
Run a finger round the inside and see if you can feel anything
Otherwise, I think you can loosen the rad and get enough clearance to access the fan without having to remove it totally

I change the fuse the other day after reading some posts on here regarding the fan not working and i have had the bike hot enought to cause the fan to come on but nothing.
When i say it rubs it takes alot of effort to get the fan to spin.
I'm hoping to go away this weekend with it so will drop the fan off on thursday i did try and see if there was anything lodged in the fan but i havn't take the pannels off yet was hoping that i could avoid stripping the bike down
Thanks for the advice

On a side note
i picked the bike up last week .
it a 2002 registration on a 2001 plate but when i was looking inside i notice a model code of FY which i think is the 2000 model.
is there any other way for me to find out the model of bike.
i have the old style clocks so i'm guessing i also have the smaller tank and lower bars etc
Bike was a bargin though so doesn't really matter that much
cheers
