hi all,
new to the site, had my w /2000 storm about 4 months now, loveing everything execpt the fuel range!! lol
any how ive done a few mods etc (i will talk about in another post with pics for your viewing pleasure)
but im after some info on these rear shock spacer things??
any good/ pros /cons etc .they come in 3mm or 6 mm /always on ebay.
cheers in advance
pat.
rear shock spacers
They just fit between the top of the shock and the frame, effectively raising the back end up a few mm, which sharpens the steering slightly.
Pros: Slightly more responsive steering, no loss of gorund clearance compared to dropping forks through yokes.
Cons: Is it really worth it, slight loss of stabilty.
^^^ all IMO and my limited capacity as a "hammer mechanic"
And welcome aboard

You don't have to buy spacers, just make your own. I picked up some large 10 mm washers and simply cut out a groove (must be at least 10 mm wide to allow it to slide into place around the bolt; cut with hacksaw or dremel) and you're good to go. By cutting a few of them you can fine-tune the amount of rise you want.
One word of advice, however (compliments of Roger Ditchfield of Revolution Racing, the VTR God himself), is to not shim the rear if you are running stock forks (ie. stock springs and valving) as it may cause the bike to become unstable at speed.
