Not happy with the way my rear end performs : )

The bike, the bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you get to the lower damper adjustment screw please. It appears the exhaust clamp is in the way on mine. Am I missing a trick here or does the clamp have to come off ?

Sounds like the shock is in the wrong way round!

The damping screw is accessible from the right side of the bike with the standard toolkit screwdriver (about the only job I'd trust it for!)

That would explain it as mine is to the left.
Time for a change around I guess then.
Thanks Ben!

And while you've got the rear end apart, dont forget to clean and re-grease the linkage bearings :)

Just get it done ya wuss!!

If the bearings are ok, it will take you an extra half hour total and will SAVE you the cost/ hassle/ time of replacing them in the not too distant future

If they're not, you're half apart anyway so saves the annoying/ catastrophic consequences of riding them til they seize

Ya Wuss  (!!!!) has done that turn around and the bearings are fine not seized/cracked as per pic!!!!

Now, I weigh about 14st. What kinda set up does anyone recommend as a starting place? I have just set the spring on the softest setting and moved the damping screw out 2 turns and guess what? The rear end moves!!!! Hardly did before. Strange what you put up with not knowing ain't it.

I'm the same sort of weight and ran 1 off minimum on the preload (2 or 3 for track) with a 6mm spacer
Rebound -I have no idea, just increased it til it stopped pitching me out of the seat

Then bought a second hand aftermarket one

Yeah I have the spacer and have JUST moved from the second softest to the softest on the spring so we'll see then. Track days? No chance!!! 8O

Then bought a second hand aftermarket (damper assy) one !!!

With three bikes and a Caterham 7 to keep on the road this gets expensive so the std issue is gonna have to stay!!!!!

AH, I see.
Well you can only afford to track day what you can afford to write off so there's no way for me to do that with a bike (done one VTR already on the road don't forget)!!!
