clutch cylinder

Post by Andy1671 »

Hi
i am having a bit of trouble getting my clutch bled and have decided to change the seals in the master cylinder but have been told that the repair kit is £45 which seems a bit steep for a few O rings and a spring is this the right price or am i being taken for a ride or am i looking at a different fault the clutch bite is right up close to the grip and the fluid was very dark when i tried to bleed it off
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Andy

It could be that the clutch fluid hasn't been changed for ages or even at all if you purchased the bike 2nd hand, that would explain the dark colour of it. Unless you can see bubbles actually coming back up through the fluid in the reservoir while you hold the clutch lever in against the handlebars I doubt the seals need replacing.

Try keeping the bike fairly upright when you're bleeding the clutch, that should help.

Chris.
