With standard 16/41 gearing, 6th gear at 9500rpm gives a calculated 162. Can probably knock a good few off that for drag and stuff, but I reckon 150 is possible.

I had my old 'red' one flat out at 165, my newer anniversary model has hit 169 on a dyno but havent had it flat out on the open road!

dyno speeds are way over optimistic'.....i reckon a storm should touch a genuine 160 ..as for mine( tl1000) ive had it sat at 180 on clocks, as to what the real speed is , ive no idea..

The last BIKE test I read on the Storm tested it at 157.5. It was one of the newer, lower power ones.

Saw 140 on the clocks Sunday on a private B road near me and things were coming up quite fast enough!

All clocks are optimistic - I read somewhere that GSXR1000 clocks are particularly badly out by 12% or more at 100mph.

I have the sat nav on the TDM 900. With an indicated 90 on the speedo, the sat nav says 82. At 100, it is 93, at 110, it is 107, so the error isn't linear. At 33 on the speedo, I'm doing 30.

Its similar in the car

Stratman.
That sounds about right for std clocks. It seems 'Storm ones are about 9 to 9.5 % out (ie reading high) if all is in std form re. gearing etc.

At the nurburgring on Dottinger Hohe (1.5km straight) I had indicated 170 but with a 15tooth front sprocket. With the known speedo error it worked out just short of 150mph I think. That was in fifth if I remember rightly, it was still creeping up but very slowly, and when I slotted 6th it just stayed at the same speed.

By rights it should do more than 150, as I got 151.5 out of my naked zed a couple of months back at Elvington :) which I was well chuffed with.

The midi's are definitely easier to contort yourself onto

Flat out I think mine will hit around 25mph, it's a cheapie but runs quite well. I take it to the kart track at Colne in winter when I can't get a 'proper' 2 wheeled fix!
