seat not seating right.

Post by patty »

hi ya folks,
just a quickie,
anybodys seat not seat right on there storm??
or is it just mine.
my old one didnt seem to fit right onto the side fairing panels ,thus throwing the seat cowl up aswell.
now my new custom seat dosent seem to be seating right either.

now ive looked at your pics, and others and they all seem to sit really snug, and hug the side fairing panels.
any tips/ideas as to a solution to this problem, not the end of the world i know, but it just keeps niggleing me.

thanks
pat.

Is it possible that the rack warped the shape of the fairing slightly?

I put a rail on last night, and noticed it put a bit of pressure on the fairing.

pic now in photo gallery in workshop section,

im really at a loss with it,
i know its not my new seat,as my last one(honda) sat the same aswell.

seems to be the seat needs to go lower ,or the fairing needs to come higher.
i tried all this last night in vain.
might just see if i can find another stormer close by and swap seats to see what happens.
(new subframe maybe)

just a thought...do the slots under the origional seat allow helmet straps to be anchored under it for storage, and aren't there flip out hooks for bungees also that could use these slots, hence the height.

Pat, that photo is EXACTLY the same as mine, like you i have tried various things to no avail!

Kev - if you flip the two hooks out they do take up that space but it seems like theres still a few mm's difference. Im sure it should sit a little closer as ive seen several storms with a flushing fitting rear...

...how odd!

Mine fits the same

Think Desgign fault cos I can't say I've ever seen one that fits well.

As long as it's secure I wouldn't worry about it.
