clucth noise

Post by patty »

hi all,
just wondering weather a new set of clucth friction plates would solve the clucth noise i get when my storm is ticking over??
once i pull the clucth lever in all is quiet ,but as soon as i release it the noise is there.(i know ive had clucth noise on other bikes, and its the norm...is it the same for the storm??)
gear changes seem fine ,no slipping etc.

i take it i would need new springs aswell??if plates were needed.
which plates (if thats what i need?)do you lot recommend?
as there is some vance and hines ones on ebay for £30 ,( i like there exhausts)dont know about there cluctch plates though.
also might have a chance at some barnett ones ,but these are £50.
dont know how much honda ones are??
as for ebc kits ,ive suffered good and bad ones ,so i think i will leave them this time.

any info would go down nicely.
cheers you lot :)

pat.

Are you sure it's not just the friction of the gearbox slowing the engine down causing the engine to sound like a clutch rattle? then when you pull in the clutch lever it takes the extra drag away and the engine ticks over better. Just a thought, maybe tickle the idle up a fraction and see what happens :)

Mine does the same as it idles :?

Is this detrimental to the clutch, or just one of the bugbears?

They all do.
Unless it's really bad I would leave it. Guaranteed if you sort it it will only be back again in a few thousand miles. As long as it works fine don't worry.

yeah mine does this too.....infact most big hondas do it blades, viffers etc.....defo nowt to worry about unless it sounds like a spanner going round inside it.

As for replacement plates.....when i replaced mine on my last bike i used wemoto.com for the plates(made by Kyoto)....then i got the steel inbetweenies from a honda dealer( didnt know i needed em when i ordered from wemoto lol ) VeetyR

noisey thrust bearing mate.nowt serious.if you want a replacement go to a bearing supplier - not honda for wombles sakes and ask for a 8003 in their best quality bearing available
