Hi Simmy,

Welcome to the site, you'll get all the advice you'll ever need on here and have more than a few laughs on the way.

I don't think it's that Ben and Squiffy don't like steering dampers, as much as they don't feel that they need them on their bikes with their set up, the roads they ride and the way they ride their Storms.

Definition: A hydraulic device similar to a shock absorber attached to the steering linkage to absorb road shock and steering kickback.

Quite simply, its because they mask the problem, they do not solve it

There's very few bikes out there that genuinely need one but people seem to think that they need to have one to prove how fast they are
Bollox
If you're bike is handling badly enough that you need one you need to get to the root cause & actually fix the problem, rather than bolting something on to mask the symptoms

Worn or improperly adjusted head bearings, worn wheel bearings, worn suspension bearings, worn folk bushes, chani too tight, tyres mismatched or worn, under/ overinflated etc etc
These are all things that can cause instability and if left unremedied the problem will only get worse

But its not a very good one!

Simmy, everyone here will help you out as much as possible and be ultra friendly along the way, thats what so great about these forums!

As ben said, normally if your "head is shaking" then you need to look at WHY its happening rather than just trying to bolt on added extras.

The storm, even in stock is a great bike, the front ends not brilliant but so many people mistake poor tyre choice/suspension setup for its lack of handling!

Thanks for the encouragement squiffy.Feeling out the bike is still in it`s early stages for me, the wobble has only happened once, and then on what I believe to be a pretty major ripple mid to late corner,I keep meaning to go back and check it out properly.
I love the bike and have no problem with the handling,I made a promise to myself that I wasn`t going to do anything stupid this time around so hopefully I won`t come anywhere near the bike's limits.
I had to wait over a year to find the right bike at the right price, safety and fun are my two highest priorities, getting older and no longer care about being the fastest, coolest etc ,I`m even able to tolerate cars in front of me these days(age is turning me into a bit of a pussy).
The vtr looks amazing ,is as loud as hell(hindle high pipes),comes with online surport and is definitely fast enough to scare the sh1t out of me,what more could I ask :D
