I am ok with doing mechanical stuff but electrics area bit of a black art to me. I want to power my video camera from the bike, what do i need to do to make it safe? The camera runs off 12V DC so i imagine i can just connect it to the terminals?? Do i need a regulator or a fuse??
Thanks

Hi Matey,
I'm not auto electrician, but as long as your equipment's running off 12VDC and you're running a lead from your battery, you should be OK.
However, I would always advocate the fitting of an in line fuse correctly rated for any additional electrical equipment, especially expensive video cameras and the like.
I assume that the camera has a 'cigar lighter' type lead so you can run it from the car accessory socket?
I've fitted a 12V socket under the seat so I can run mobile charger or air bed pump or anything else 12VDC. They're only a couple of quid from a car spares shop or auto jumble.
If you can't get one already insulated, buy a replacement 'cigar lighter' unit from a motor factor, ditch the lighter and tape the socket up with inch insulating tape.
Mate of mine with an R1 has a bank unit of 3/4 fitted to the underside of the cross member under his seat - but then he has loads of gadgets!
