Another vote for the Avons. Im that happy with my last 2, im having a new rear on today!
After having a chat with a few of the lads Ive decided to have another Azaro AV46 fitted. My local tyre place has a couple of these still kicking about (superseded by the Avon Storm now) so I got it at a good price...
£90 fitted! They wear well enough, offer decent grip, but I did find my last one squared quite badly (thats mile after mile of mway for you though )
I was going to get a pair of Pilot Sport 2's fitted but my fronts still got good life left in it and it would have cost me another £100.
I've got Michelin Pilots on mine, and they seem to be lasting well - they've both done about 3,500 miles - the back's still fine, good for another 1,000 and the front seems to have hardly worn at all.
They can be a bit slippy when cold, but are fine when warmed up. They also slide nicely when you're being a bit of a spanner - no drama, just a slow slide to say you have reached the limit now, sunshine, and perhaps you should back off a bit?
Didn't like the Dunlops OE on there - they gave me no confidence in the dry and seemed like slicks in the wet. After binning the Dunlops, I tried the Michelin Pilot Sports - nice tyres, warm up quick, but no more than 3,000 out of a back (4,000 from the front). It went as as low as 2,000 on the back once, although, to be fair, a bit of that involved chasing my mate on his R1 around the Isle of Man - I lost on the straights, but he learned a valuable lesson about V2's and hairpins.
One thing I would say is don't mix the Pilot Sports with the Pilots. I had a Pilot Sport on the front and a Pilot on the back, and it felt as if they've got different profiles, as the front seemed to be trying to wash out and lowside every time I approached a bend. I put a normal Pilot on the front, and the handling's back to normal.

Bridgestone 014s for me, excellent all round. Not sure they will see next spring though
