VFR800 Wheels
Hi,
So it looks like I've got myself a VFR800 swinging arm for what was the 'Donor' bike, which must now become 'project' bike - or she'll be sorting me out good and proper!
I also have chance of the wheels for the VFR - I'm inclined to get the rear as I know it fits - Doh!
What I don't know is if I should get the front wheel too. Will it fit Firestorm standard forks / brakes? or am I going to have a right job sorting it out?
Anyone fitted one or know what I'm going to have to change, like discs, spindle, spacers?
I'd like the wheels to match, but not if it's going to be a bugger to sort out.
I don't know yet what's with the front wheel, if anything.
Alan, this is your field of expertise I reckon.
Cheers,
Graeme.

Bugger!
Although the discs are very similar, the VFR hub is just slightly larger circumference! by a couple of mm
Took a spare disc with me when I went to pick the swinging arm up.
Aha
Mill the hub slightly! Nope, cos then the screw centres still don't line up - Doh!
The outer diameters of the brake discs are the same and the 'width' of the 'dish' looks to be same, so maybe spacers will be good, if not should be able to mix 'n' match or get some fabricated. Also hopefully existing brake calipers can be kept.
On the plus side - VTR spindle is right diameter!
So it looks like at the very least, to have 'matching' wheels I'm going to have to fork out for front wheel and 2 discs @ £140! Unless I can find cheaper elsewhere
Plus side?, the front wheel is white (which if I get it, I might keep colour).

Alan,
If poss I want the wheels to 'match' OK so the VFR front isn't single sided, but does look the same.
Probably just me but think it's more esthetically pleasing. (fussy get I am)
Don't think I'm going to go down the route of replacing front end with blade fe.
Probably go for the 'cheaper' option of getting forks 'Rogered' - to improve the handling at the fe.
Not sure what body kit it will end up with yet either, for Blade fe there's a bit of modding of existing fairings for clip on clearence isn't there?
Is the difference between 'Rogered' Storm forks and Blade fe massively different? There's got to be someone on here who's either had, or ridden both and formed a considered opinion.
e-mailed Mr Nava last night re his specials - just waiting for a reply - if he's still on same e-mail address.
Also debating on colour scheme - at moment I'm thinking Joey rep (Red) or a Castrol rep (white/red/green)- but not a copy of the SP1/SP2's. Possibly Stealthy Black with hint of RED. Don't think I'll polish Arm - probably powder coat it - but in what colour? don't know yet.
Before anyone posts a picture of the Colin Edwards SP - NO! Don't bother, you're wasting your time!
Yes it's a nice paint job - Guy I bought Swing Arm off last night has SP2 in it (very nice) - but it's not for me. I'm not anti American (much) but I'm certainly not Pro-American - feckin Stars and Stripes everywhere, not on my bike.
I'm in no rush to get this done - I've not set any time scales, just going to do it as I go along and try and make it as pleasing to me as possible, rather than rushing it and regretting doing or not doing something afterwards.
Afterall I have my 'Stock' bike and me Dommy to play on.
Graeme.
PS - Bob, just un-tick the box sometimes to make posting a little shorter.
Is this better?

I know one guy on here at least Graeme, who had the Fireblade USD front end on his Firestorm, but went back to the standard Firestorm forks after having them reworked by Roger Ditchfield. Don't hold me to it but I think it could have been:- stevevtr1RedStormV wrote: Is the difference between 'Rogered' Storm forks and Blade fe massively different?
