sprocket cover removal........

Post by VeetyR »

Guys, have been trawling thru some posts on clutch noises and have found members have had similar "graunchy" clutch issues.

I am about to try a couple of the remedies suggested and these seem to be simple enough exept for one thing that is bothering me.

I want to take the front sprocket cover off and clean the "plunger" for the clutch. I did notice however that the clutch slave is actually bolted onto and through the sprocket cover into the engine. So my Q to you is......

Can i Remove the cover and slave as one or do i need to remove the slave first and replace the gasket between it and the cover?

What is the best procedure to use? anything i should be wary of? and has anyone done this before??

Thx John'o

Hi,

I'm not sure if you can remove the cover with the clutch cylinder still in place however if your careful when you remove the cylinder you shouldn't need to replace the gasket i have removed mine a couple of times to try and fix a leaking seal.

i also fitted new clutch spring to try and remove the noise Some EBC heavy duty spring but it didn't make any difference.

Hope thats of some help

i think you can remove them both together, i don't think all the bolts go through to the engine block, some of them are taped into the sprocket cover.

if not the spring and piston assembly isn't that strong that it will fly out in all directions if you are carefull, it will slowly push out.

I actually did this last weekend! You can take both off together but it is much easier to remove the slave first. Beware the gasket though, its really easy to tear!

Thread Hijack - Anybody know where i can get a new gasket or shall i just make one from a cornflakes packet again?

Wildfire...remove the spaces and enter in this code. Any time you want to display an image you need to use the XHTML tags. Its simple, its works like this:

use an opening bracket "<"

Then type "img"

Then a space and "src="

Then copy and paste the images link (with speach marks!!)

Then close the statment using the opposite bracket ">"

New clutch slave gasket £2.30

Cornflakes £2.80

1/2lb bacon and a loaf of bread £2.00

What is my point? I have no idea.
