Standard Exhausts

Can anything be done with standard exhausts, just enough to give them that 'v2' sound. The standard exhausts sound ok, just quiet any clues anybody?
I love this site, so many happy helpful people in one place, not like work at all.

yep ye old bafflectomoy......one long steel rod and a big lump hammer...rod down end of can and a big wack....will give instant noise...donw it many many yrs ago..on loads of diff exhausts...alltho i aint held responsible if u dont like the sound

Hi and welcome
you could take the complete baffle out but be warned they will be mighty loud or you could just drill 10mm holes at equal spacing round the baffle this will make it sound abit better, mine was like this when i bought mine and it sounded good but not over loud.

Thanks guys! I think I'll try 6mm holes, like you see on std exhausts. Take 'em off to do it or will the gasess puch out any debris?

id take em off..drill then tip upside down..bingo..and bits left will blow out when started.....u know u cant beat having some REAL cans on a v twin u know..then u get the read deal as far as sound goes

Just remember you have to get an MOT sometime, so if your standard cans are then illegal you are stuffed

Mine are drilled doesn't make a lot of difference, MOT no probs. Looking for a reasonably priced set of aftermarket road legals . Saving for Scorpion or similar.

I drilled mine when I had the 'Storm (12 mm holes). Made a big difference

. If you go overboard, you could make up a couple of stainless "washers" that slides over the inner "snorkel" and are fixed with a coupe of self tapping screws. That would bring it back to stock.
