vfr bars fitted

well got my vfr bars fitted,had to remove quite a bit on the left side of the fairing so the handlebars dont hit,but hopefully it will be worth it,as to the hoses,luckily i have braided hoses so there was enough slack,the clutch pipe i just unbolted it from the frame and there is enough slack,im going to fit a bracket to the mounting point and cable tie the hose to that with the harness that is also secured to the same bracket

pity i cant post pics on here as the bike is looking nice now i have the seat cowl fitted

I'm surprised you had to chop your fairing to get the VFR bars to clear, as I thought others on here said it wasn't necessary :!:

I hope you like them :!: It'll probably take a little time to adjust to the new riding position :!:

it does say some trimming is required but didnt realize just how much,they are nearly 2 inches higher so may explain why,just sitting on the bike it feels a lot better but i may have to be carefull in the wheely department as less weight over the front end lol

You mean having to take a fair bit of now excess off the existing plastic fairing eh? 8O

Well if it helps you then great (though can't see it helping resale value............. unless you're never gonna sell it of course) :D

fitting risers and renthals..requires no fairing bodging at all..so surprised vfr mod does :?:

to tell the truth if i wanted to make the bike more sellable i would need to change the fairing anyway as the last seller fitted flush mount indiacators in which were screwed to the fairing so i have extra screw holes,on a plus side the higher bars may make th bike more sellable as the low bars can be a big put off,tommorrow im going to touch up where i had to cut so it shouldnt look too bad,and i could always pick up a second hand fairing off ebay or buy new from david silver i needs be,but the bike has 53k miles on it so what is its value? (engine is a replacement unit from a jap import)

Not sure about that, nobody I know who's fitted straight bars didn't have to mod the fairing.

My VFR bars just about touched the fairing, which to me was fine, but it can fail an MOT. I swapped back to normal bars as I found it felt wierd to me leant right over and it made me feel nervous, so back to the old ones (of which, the left one is cracked, so replacement black ones sourced on e-bay for a good price :) )

The VFR bars certainley are more comfortable for long rides though. I have a set in my garage if anyone wants to offer some beer tokens for them before I get around to being arsed to ebay them. (so you should have till 2010 to do it)

No modding of fairing when fitting Renthals if you use the correct risers as Bob has done and to others.

Excellent.

Would that be a replacement yoke kit, or just finding ones that fit and drilling the top yoke

no the risers fit the standard yoke but kickback towards the tank slightly giving you the clearance needed. Bob's done both his storms and some others. You only need longer brake lines.

they are from m&p, they're meant to fit to your existing clamps/risers to move the bars up & back for small people,they keep the bars low enough to miss fairing & only have 4 holes to drill in yoke & longer brake pipes, you have to extend horn wire by 4inch, but its pretty easy to do :D
