picked it up at 8am sat
rode it back sounds fine but have only done ten miles will get to test it better this week
bike feels like it has loads of torque lower down but has lost a little bit top end.
but am overjoyed that i got away with it, i guess if it had happened at high speed i would be scrapping it.
i believe that there can be no other damage ?
is there anything i should be worried about ?
a friend suggests i get the chain changed when i get the valves done is that possible without a major strip down.

You can get what they call a soft link chain but I wouldn't recomend it but it's an easy short cut.
Personally I'd rather replace with the correct chain.
It's a big job but I'd put the proper endless chain in if I was going to do it but that would mean dropping the engine and removing the crank. Not something for the average bear I'm afraid.

As far as I know you don't need to drop the engine and remove the crank to replace the cam chains on the Firestorm

SO, it's a flywheel and primary drive gear off jobby.

bike starts so easy now its untrue i don't think it even turns over once before it starts.
But
have a new problem now and hope you guys may be able to help, the bike now seems to hit a limiter early at about 8k revs and have phoned the mechanic that has done my ccts and he says it may be a fueling issue i have only fitted a KN filter so am a bit of loss as to what the problem may be, gonna fit some high level cans today to see if the problem gets worse runs fine upto those revs.
it never had the problem before, the mechanic says if it were a bent valve it would have shown up in a compression test and that he would hear it. ?
any help would be appreciated

I think I'd be inclined to re-fit the standard air filter and see what it's like then.
