CCT/ starting Problems

Post by genisis »

Hi all,
Just changed my CCT's to APE one's did everything step by step as the guide say's on here.
However sine doing it the bike started okay and was ticking over(although wouldn't rev) put that down to it being cold
So i stopped tried it a couple more times then put the bike back together
now it won't tick over.

It started a couple of times then just got lumpier and lumpier.

I didn't turn the fuel of when i took the tank off
anyhow given up for tonight as i'm 99% sure i've not broken anything inside but wouldn't mind some sugestions got my dad coming round in the morning if it doesn't start to help me sort it out.

Any ideas are more than welcome

Thanks

I'm pretty sure the timing is okay the back marks RI RE where facing away from each other. slowly unwound the plunger and removed the ccts

I'm going to check the tank in a min beacuse it does seem like fuel starvation just because it did run the got progreisivly worse

Yes, or re-connected it to wrong out-let. It should be connected to the center of the diaphragm cover at the back of the tap, not at the bottom out-let.

Chris.

PS. Other things you can check are:-

(1) Make sure all the breather pipes are connected to the air box and that none have popped off when re-assembling.

(2) Make sure throttle sensor (situated between the carbs) is still connected.

Sounds similar to my fault after rebuilding CCTS, Although I followed guidance vey carefully, the exhaust cam sproket had jumped one tooth. It looked ok from looking side on (well on side stand in poor garage lighting) but it happened all the same. Good luck.

If you still have the original non finned rectifier fitted (assuming you have the earlier model Firestorm) it would pay to check out-put at battery when charging, it should be showing below 15 volts. if you don't check that and your rectifier has given up you will soon require another new battery,

i will check that as soon as my volt meter turns up.

I don't think it helped that it was the original battery (2000 model vtr)
