'Clicking/Knocking' front end

Post by Captain Shapeless »

My Storm's developed a new noise.

If I pull away at a slow/reasonable speed, as you would in town (i.e. not giving it a hiding), there's a knocking noise coming from the front of the bike - it's only two or three times until the speed builds up, and then it disappears altogether, if I slow down, it doesn't re-appear. If I pull away quickly there's no noise. It doesn't happen every time, but it does seem to happen all the time on one day, but not at all the next.

It sounds as if something's fouling on the front mudguard (it's that sort of a hollow, plastic, knocking noise), but it's secure and clean. I've checked the wheel bearings, head bearings, discs and pads, but everything's fine. Checked the forks, they seem fine, no weeping or pitting.

It doesn't seem to make any difference to the handling, and I can't see any marks or damage at all, it's just odd. Anyone got any ideas what it could be?

Hope it doesnt sound like that ^^^

Strange noise coming from front first thought is CCT.

If it does sound like that, or you still cant find anything, research the workshop threads to do with "CCT" and see if you can eliminate it as a cause.
Voted most likely to be found dead in park bushes following an act of autoerotic asphyxiation.

No, thankfully it doesn't sound like that!

It's a noise as if something was knocking on the front mudguard, a sort of plastic-type noise.
