Any port in a Storm...

Post by Norton500 »

I'm looking for some advice on fitting some new sprockets to my Storm and perhaps a new chain if needed.

I'm looking to go to 16/43 or 15/43. Will the original chain fit it?

I've changed my old classic's by attaching the old chain to the new chain and pulling it through. Can I do this on a Storm or is it major surgery time? Also is it easy to break the chain? (I realise I'll probably need a speedo healer if I go ahead with this mod when I'm finished)

By the way, before I go on ebay to buy one, has anyone got a 15 tooth and/or a 43 tooth that they want to sell?
It's all a big joke until you have somebody's eye out...

Cack handed mono monkey :)

With the amount of throttle travel on the Storm, you could go to 14/50 and still not wheelie unless you wanted to.

That said, if you do motorways or very big distances, I'd go 15/41 or 16/43 as higher than that and you'll be pulling 5500 rpm in 6th at 80 which wont help the fuel range.
