Chris.
Werent all original springs coloured yellow?
Yes as far as I know Timbo :!:

I wasn't meaning that his spring isn't a Maxton item, just that the design is more like the orginal.

Wont the spring being rusty affect the spring rate as part of the rate calculation is based on the surface area, is it not?
And a fly hitting your visor when traveling at sixty mph slows you down by how much?
I'd be more worried about age and metal fatigue let alone the oil going off in the shocker and ruining the handling.

I'll pass on your kind invitation to come around and clean your bike if you don't mind :D

The bit about the ant with a surgical mask on made me crack up

That back end strip down was done to grease all the swingarm and linkage bearings, fit that Maxton spring and to polish up the header pipes, although the headers didn't stay shiny like that for very long. The link below covers what I did. That was 18mths ago 8O

Ahhhh, sorry mate, read it wrong.

I don't think the rust is a little more than surface rust, going by the picture. So no I don't think it will be affecting the spring rate. If the rust had really eaten into the metal then that would be different. I expect a bit of a rub down with some wet and dry and some new paint will have it looking like new

Ummm. I thought that rusty one was actually just a 'Manky' spring ie. original one painted purple to fool the masses/brag down the pub!!!

Maybe not?

Sirch's bike is far too clean. Bet his workshop bench/desk is tidy too!!!!
