Post by Geordie »

Hello .. still thinking about having a go at un underseat mod. After doing a bit of searching i cam eup with this pic of what im after ..

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5 ... pid=590963

Not sure whos bike or where the pic originated, maybe even from somewhere on this forum, anyway .. anybody done something like this and taken pics / written wee story about it . . havent found much so far ..

Idea is, twin cut down stainless cans under seat as in photo and then work out a routing for the link pipes ..

Cheers folks

Not sure if my bike was one of the pictures, if so no problem with me mate.
I have found so many pictures of my current & previous VTR's on web sites that I just don't care anymore. To be fair, anyone from the VTR community knows my bike anyway so people don't attempt to try and pass it off as theirs.

Talking of underseat exhausts, mine will be for sale later in the year...almost certainly with the complete back end to make fitting a whole lot easier.

I've almost sorted a complete R1 back end from different sources...just need to finish my DR650 project first.

Hi Daz, .. yeah think the pic of the black streetfighter vtr might have been yours with the underseat cans and single side swingarm ? .. sorry shouldav asked really, now deleted from FB ! .. did you have to butcher the undertray a lot to get enough suspension travel space between the wheel and cans ?
Think what i might do is take some measurements from a set of appropriate cans and make up a cardboard dummy set and offer up and see how i can attach them .. sound about right .. ?
What cans did you use .. ?
more satisfaction doing the work yourself than pretending you did .. for me anyway ..

Cheers

My cans & rear subframe is totally custom made, there is nothing at all inside the rear hump... I used to have a single can hidden inside the hump that exited out of the tail light space (with a light below the can).

I have made a box that contains all the electrics below the riders seat.

The titanium cans were also one offs in a slightly smaller external diameter to allow them to fit side by side under the tail.

I will probably look for £400-500 for the whole back end later in the year, about the same price you would pay for a set of underseat cans on there own.....oh and certainly less than you would pay for a one off carbon fibre tail piece.
Yup the bike is actually carbon and not black as it looks in the pictures!
