Then polish with a good quality alloy polish such as belgom, I used to use autosol until I discovered this stuff, it's fantastic.
Then repeat all of the above after every trip out on your bike
Is Belgom really that good Mike
I have always used Autosol myself.
Chris.
PS. I like the last sentence
I thought Belgom was meant to leave a wax covering over what you've just polished, so you didn't have to polish it as much as you do when using Autosol That's what this advert says, 'it will last for weeks' http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0187639675
do as mike says, but i left tyres on, and carefully put masking tape up to the swage line on the wheel....make sure its stuck down good, then nitromors on a paintbrush, carefully paint it on up to the swage line....leave for 5 mins then wash off with soapy water...and then follow mikes tips....its alot of effort but worth it.....but be warned its polishing every week to keep em looking tip top, cos they can soon go shitty esp in our climate....ive done loads of bikes before....but i aint touching the storm, powdercoating is better, and check out black chrome colour!!...looks sim to polished look, but is powdercoated so hence will last yrs
mine just came off using a wire porting brush in an electric drill.
polished over with Belgom, been using it longer than Autosol but either should work.
never wash the bike which is probably why its showing its age, but as its had a respray and dirty weather bike I dont mind. rims havnt furred up so Belgom must have put a coating on, been done over a year now.
You might not even need the nitromors, when i did mine could not believe how poor the paint was,got bored one afternoon, and attacked it with some emery, had it done in no time.Honda quality?finished mine off to a satin finish with some scotchbrite, alls i need to do is rub it with the same,to restore the finish, beats rubbing your fingers to the bone with autosol an a pair of old grundies!!
tim, can you possibly post a before/during/after photo? This sounds like a great idea and is cost free so deffo want to give it ago! (im guessing if i was ultra lazy i could do it with the wheel still on the bike?)

Eagles may soar but wombats dont get sucked into jet engines!!
heres a few wheels ive done before and after, nitro morse then fine grade wire wool i didnt even polish these wheels the finish is what i got from rubbing wire wool round.
