I’m pretty sure the bike was run up with the K&N in (but dont quote me on thatalan wrote:Lee's bike was jetted and dyno'd but jetted for the standard filter according to lee's dyno jet kit a 185 needle i think, BUT when lee opened airbox it was fitted with a K&N hence the shite running at 2500 revs and not jetted to suit the K&N and exhausts.

It did cough here and there after the jet set up when I had it, but nothing untoward. If the standard filters sorted it then jobs a good'un!

You don't need to go to a tuner to sort it out. All you need to do is turn the fuel mixture screws on the bottom of the carbs anti- clockwise by 1/4- 1/2 a turn. Your tick-over will drop slightly as a result to this so reset it back to norm afterwards and then I would suggest balancing the carbs to get it running spot on.
If you are getting a stumble when cruising at around 4k and cracking the throttle open I would recommend placing a 0.6mm thick washer under both your needles to raise them slightly.
This normally removes most problems when changing from a std filter to a higher flowing K & N or Piper Cross.
Cheers

Oh! and don't be afraid to mark the pilot screws with a felt tip pen or scratch mark so you can always go back to the starting position if you rock it up
That way you can start again.

My new ride is a bit of a Howler and I love to make her Squeal
yeah john, i have the print outs m8 etc...does state standard filter...and yeah those coughs were massive!!!..if i rode bike quickly ie revving fast then no probs, but trying to ride steady( as if) then at 2000-2500 revs it blew me legs off lol...got to point that roundabouts were getting silly...esp when slippy etc....she runs spot on now standard filter back in!!..just need nice weather now to actually ride it

at the moment i've dropped the standard filter back in, and been watching this thread to see what i shoudl do
hopefully going to pick up some new cans in the next few weeks money permitiing.
i will tinker with her then and see if i can get them both working together.
i might try adjusting the mixture slightly and see how that works.
