I've just tried to renew my insurance etc and by 'eck are they all being a bit ar$ey about mods. I told them about the handlebars being raised by 19mm and the lowered footrests + extended mirror 'stalks'.
Added about 80 quid to the cost + the excess went to 400ukp.
Hadn't mentioned the ECU ICON unit etc as yet!!!!

I've just been working hard late nights at the local park, toilets and secluded picnic sites... you know ;)

Not sure about trip this year at the moment. I might not do and go next year. Was even looking into the possibility of America next year. Air freight meself and the Storm over and have a blast, including dropping into Deals Gap and meet up with the SHOG rally.

Course... I might be able to wangle a MotoGP trip too :) August, September maybe.

That's Zenith Insurance co. via Bennetts. An awful lot of insurers don't want to know as soon as you admit to modifications (even if they are ALL safety based etc) and won't quote full stop.

i had trouble getting my insurance sorted but when i went onto the ebike website to get a quote they had all the mods i'd done listed (about 15) and it was a doddle to set up, a lot cheaper than anyone else with all mods declared.

one thing though is you can't ride any other bikes, i took it cause i was fed up trying to get insurance with any one else, bennets wouldn't touch me, they transfered me to three other companies they said would be able to give me a quote but they were next to useless; i think one was a car company and they didn't have a clue what some of the things i was trying to describe were, like a powder coated swing arm or fork legs, lol and very expensive ...over £400 sort of expensive.

Any premium hike for anything other than performance mods, is a pure rip-off, IMO. some companys will charge more if you fit tyres other than the ones that were on the bike when it left the factory? WTF. cosmetic mods should be at the owners risk to be replaced at their own expense..

Bennetts have never once in 8 years of riding ever given me a good quote! I use "highway" and pay £70 a year TPFT which i think is quite good considering my age and *cough* points history...

Do you really have to mention things such as bar risers? mine came with risers, i never realised for the first few months

Kitch,

Sounds like a cracking list of mods there mate -WITH ONE EXCEPTION
RC45 throttle twistgrip

There's plenty of posts on here about it but basically David Silver do them for about £8 and they are a 10% faster acting throttle
Fitting is fairly simple and uses the standard bar clamp, cables etc

End result: You get to 100% throttle much easier and its amazing how much difference it makes without being too abrupt
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!
