Morning Mr D, how ya keeping?
I'm hoping to head up your neck of the woods in the not too distant future to get some number boards from image works
I'll let you know in advance so we can meet up for a natter
(but I'll have to clean the bike first -you'd be disgusted
WRT the rear lights, you should know better!!
Its mirror - signal - maneouver so anyone following should have plenty of time to see them
Are the indicators not that bright then when compared to the brake lights?
Can't be much worse than my mini diamond ones with smoked lenses can they??

Cool Ben, look forward to a chat.
As for the tail light, they work brilliant when you indicate (see the picture aready posted on this thread) but when you are braking at the same time there is a second set of LED's that are illuminated on both sides of the unit and these can reduce the effect of the indicator.
I know what you mean about mini indicators, they can be a little pants but to be fair I don't have a huge problem since you tend to howl upto junctions far quicker than cars and have cleared them long before any vehicle from behind have caught up with you!
You just have to be a little wary doing right turns where you may get caught up in the centre of the road for a short time, this is when I give a hand signal as well as the indicators if I think vehicles may need a little extra warning.
I have removed my indicators from the DRZ400 and it's amazing how quick you get back into hand signals!

There was one tested when we visited Rogers for a mass dyno day a few years ago. The main difference was a boost in mid range power but a slight loss of top range power......Oh and the exhausts was considerablly louder.
My experience of 2 into 1 exhausts was pretty similar but I also tried a large bore connector pipe and large bore can.
It certainly worked better than the standard 2" bore single can but very loud!!!
I actually prefered this exhaust to running two exhausts mainly because of the look of the bike and the obvious weight reduction but finally changed because I wanted to go down the under seat route.

Thanks Daz
I just received a message reply back from JAC who, incidentally, mentioned you. He referred to a few options that would allow me to retain my stock headers while converting to the 2-1 format. Just wondering if this is what you did or if you went full hog and got a whole system? He spoke of a pipe or pipe and can option... Just trying to get my head around this stuff....
cheers from frosty and cold Canada

Hi Mik
I have actually had both standard headers that were modified and custom headers fitted to a 2 into 1 exhaust and I have to be honest and say the complete system was not noticably better. If your headers are in good condition I would consider keeping them.
I actually sold a modified complete 2 into 1 system to Jason from this site, sorry but I can't remember his user name....I know he was very happy with the end results but sold his VTR so sold the pipes on again, not sure if it was to anyone from this site.
To modify the headers is dead easy, look at the side in the region below where your right foot sits and you will see where they go from two pipes into one for about 1-2" and then back into two pipes again. You simply cut the pipe just before it goes back into two pipes.
The JAC connector pipe then slips over this and routes the can to a high level position up the side of the bike.
I have loads of single side pictures if you let me know your email address.
These even include shots of modified headers and where to cut etc...
One thing that is good with Wayne is that he will possibly make you a connector pipe on it's own which allows you to fit any slip on race can (you tell him the internal diameter of your can) which keeps costs really low.

Back to the indicator debate, it seems to me (having been driving a company car around looking at these small/led indicators a lot lately) that you might as well not bother. Stick one in the middle and flash it whether you're going left or right!!!
What LSM on about you say
Well from a car drivers perspective, you can see the rear lights OK normally (as we all run around with headlights on don't we) but a flashing turn signal needs to be off the centre line by a reasonable amount to see which side of the bike it is fitted to and hence which way it's going to turn (unless it's been left on by accident!!!!!). Poor waether/bright sunlight just compounds the problem.
Small might be cool to look at but doesn't help the cause of allowing 'cagers' to know which way you are gonna turn!
