headlight help?

Post by CHUGNUT »

hi all,
is it just my bike (2003 storm) or are all headlights on storms crap?
high beam is completely useless  , and, as i use my bike in all weather
and at all times of the day, i could do with some advice.

is there a better headlight unit out there? or can i just get a better bulb?
if so how will this affect my battery, bearing in mind i have no light switch.

ta

dino
but........that's they way we've always done it

Totally agree, I work shifts so I use my bike in the dark every week and they are not good enough. I had a ZX6R before this and the headlights used to burn holes in cars a mile away. Any advice would be welcomed from me as well

I had similar problems with my car and fitted Philips Vision Plus H4 Bulbs which transformed it. I bought 'em from http://www.speeding.co.uk

Just bought another set off Ebay and fitted one to the Storm today. Not been out in the dark yet 'cos its snowing tonight!

Cheers,

Ian.

Ride magazine had a test of bulbs this month but I wasn`t sure how big an improvement they would make over the standard set up

I tried a PIAA Brightwhite, but low beam burned out after 10k, and it was pretty expensive, so not recommended.

To stop or improve bulb life stick three pieces of double sided tape (about 0.5 to 1mm thick) on the (3) tabs one the bulb that seat in the headlamp to remove alot of the vitration. make sure you leave the non sticky tape on the double sided tape when you put the bulb in else it's a bugger to get it out.

I have bulbs at £12 pair (100/80W Blues). If one person is local and wants to try one for free then just pop round and you can have one.
