Try Here M8. they have a dedicated Falco Forum.
I ride an Rsv The Falco has the same engine. better riding position [more comfort]. and 150 mph quick.. and about 150-160 mile tank range..by all accounts a great sports/tourer. Looks cool too 8)

Thats what I was thinking.

Had a storm, now got a TLS. I love/d both. The TL is great. Much better engine than the storm imo. Pulls like something wrong  kills the VTR in that department, even a VTR with moderate upgrades.

The VTR is very, very good package otherwise. It feels "better finished" if you catch my drift  Better put together.

Im fancying something slighty newer (the tillers a 1998) with the power'ish of the TL and the finish of the honda. Plus 21 litre tank would be benificial :D

Can't get on with IL4's now. They are better in some respects (ala power, mpg) but boring as hell imo. Been out on GSXR1000's, even took a R1 out the other week. I ride my mates 929 blade on sometimes and it does nothing for me at all. Goes fast, stops well and handles brilliantly. Quite "the finished item". But thats the problem  each to their own I suppose...

I want a good, grunty V2, decent power for road riding, quality finish and reasonable all round capabilities. And a bit newer :) Does it have a plastic tank?

Could look at a newer storm, but ive been there and done that, with added bits. Other probelm is now ive got 120bhp+ I cant be arsed with 107 after dyno'ing, K&N's and jet kits

You know what they say, Absolute power corrupts!

Around 107. Lee67 will confirm, he has the bike and dyno prints. Most of the standard storms the guy had had at the dyno house were making 96-100bhp. I know this can vary depending on the particular dyno bed/mods. You can tell straight away the TL has the extra legs on the VTR, its a beast.

I like Mille's but they are a bit too sports orientated for me. Need a fast and comfy steed :) I dont want to be getting off the bike shaped like a quaver.

The Falco looks to possess the best qualities of the TL and the VTR, as such 8)

yep storm 107...apparently thats quite good, as john says standard ones make owt from 96 bhp....as for the tl....theres no comparsion engine wise, 125 bhp of pure v twin stomp :D ...the tl wins everytime, i found the tl comfier too...mpg was better on tl as well..only thing storm wins on is how well there built...oh and i miss a nice gearbox too...i know a lad at cafe john with a falco he loves it m8...best bet is to demo one and find out m8

I have accidentally ended up with both a Falco and a VTR in my garage.
The VTR is a 1997 in black with 23000 miles and the Falco is a near immaculate 2000 with 13000miles.

As an overall riding experience they are very similar (surprise :D )
The Honda is a much more easy going ride, everything is softer and more easily accessable but let down by very (old style) Japanese suspension, by the time it's set hard enough to prevent general soggyness the damping is no longer able to cope. This means it's a bit of a handful on bumpy old fashioned A roads etc, although the weight distribution is better than the Falco.

The VTR is slighly less comfy (cramped legs, too soft saddle) but has much better wind protection from the fairing and far lower wind noise too!

I also think that the Firestorm is a better looker.

The minus points, fuel consumption/ tank range, both poorer on the VTR less than 40mpg/ 115miles to fill up, the Falco manages 45mpg/170+ per fill despite the Aprilia being driven harder (see suspension) although it does have a much larger tank.

The Falco is considerably faster all round but is more demanding of the rider, really needing 4K rpm to move and just about refusing to run smoothly let alone acelerate below 3K. The Honda, by contrast, is much more amiable.

Same story really with the handling and suspension, Falco is much more capable, really soaking up the bumps but not going soggy either. This means you can use more of the better performance more of the time (see fuel consumption). Downside is that, because of the higher centre of gravity, (specially if the huge tank is full) she needs a firmer hand.

The brakes on the two bikes are like chalk and cheese, the Storms are no more than adequate while the Brembo set up on the Falco is really good, plenty of power, feel and and control.

Falco clutch, heavy enough to make you regret riding in cities.
Honda clutch, nice and light.
As per the above with the throttle weight too!

The fit and finish of the Falco is beautiful, the red paint on mine looks like it's feet thick, that of the VTR is OK but no "wow" factor.

In conclusion, if I had to choose, as a weekend toy it would be the Falco, as everyday transport the Firestorm.

However, if I had only experienced one or the other I would be delighted with either. The deciding factor, having ridden neither when I was buying (three years ago) was the fuel consumption/tank range issue. I chose the Falco based on this above all else!

How did I end up with both?
No 1 son bought the VTR and after 3 months had his last of 9 bike prangs on it, he gave up riding (before he killed himself!!!) and after about a year I bought the wreck and put it back together to use as an everyday bike.

Best of both words :)

I'll second that Timbo, thanks goffy :)

Think the next job is a test ride. Like the look of the bike and it sounds to be in the right ball park as regards handling, performance and all round use 8)

We will see...

Only thing i could say about the Falco is it looks like a Storm :) or vice versa.
The Falco is almost a dead ringer for the TLR Suzuki, particularly at first glance, I reckon Aprilia gave it a good hard looking at before they sat down with a large, blank sheet of paper and wrote SL1000 Falco at the top!!!

8)

I love the TLS I have atm, but for me, its getting slighty old in the tooth and starting to show its age :(

With a fair few £££'s chucked at it, it would be a a very smart 1998 TL.

Th falco looks better suited for me though TBH. I like the fact it has the bigger tank capacity and the improve mpg. They push out similar BHP to the TL too. The one Ive seen has about 24000 miles less on the clock too.

Any chance of a testride yet jrebel? I know you will love it. It's that twin thang man....I traded in my storm. Feb last year, for an 03 ZX9R..which was a screaming Psycho of a bike, it threw me off three months later after clattering a pothole....I bought the Mille with the insurance settlement.
and Ten mins into the First ride, I knew it was the bike for me. I still get butterflies when i swing a leg over. and the noise it makes through the shotgun exhaust.....Oh my! 8)
