Pillion pegs

Post by okcoky »

http://www.vtr1000.org/cpg/albums/userp ... d621_4.jpg

here is a pic of my bike as you can see the exhaust hangers do not allow for pillion pegs,i need a set put on, does anyone know who could make me some?Or if some would fit through the exhaust hanger eg screw in and hold the exhaust on at the same time.I live in lincolnshire any manufacturers who make custom parts nearby? Thanks for the help.

My bike was actually used for the design of Micron highlevel exhausts all those years ago, it was then used on their 2000 catalogue before I killed the bike (hence stormsmasher).
When I got a new 50th Anniversary VTR Micron were very nice to give me a second set of Microns free (which was nice since the first pair were also free).
I got round the problem by modifying some early Blade footrests, you have to move the hole centres out a few mm and grind off the exhaust hanger lug off the RHS hanger.

Hope this helps

The early years - pre 2000 I would suggest since I did the modification back in 2000.

The reason I liked this route rather than simply move the original ones is it looks far neater.

Right, you could buy these from ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-CBR900-RRR- ... dZViewItem

And I will gladly explain how you modify them stage by stage (via phone if you need).

I'll gladly do it for you if you want to mess about wanting to send them back & forth via mail to me.

Only spent 30secs to find the above on ebay, there could be others a lot cheaper but I will leave that for you to search mate.

Unfortunately I wiped us out of the small bit of 13mm s/s tube we had doing mine and the stuff comes in 6 meter lengths
So buying more not really feasible it’s about £30-35 a length
Only really did mine for the Mrs as I could put the foot pegs a bit lower and more forward for a bit more comfort
Stormsmashers look the dogs and very standard looking like they belong that’s yer best route if all you have to do is slot the holes and cut of a mounting bracket all you’ll need is a round file and a hacksaw
