Looking at a link on here somewhere, and this lad had made a good job of polishing his headers/downpipes.I didnt even realise they were stainless, mine are that rusty. So i stuck a magnet on them to check, they defo are not ferritic,so they must be some low grade of stainless, just made me wonder where they pick the rust up from,or contamination, wonder how long they would keep that polished finish, also has anybody tried dressing the welds off,as they look well ugly.does anybody have an idea?
polished mine...they lasted a couple of rides, and tarnished again....and im a cleaning fanatic!!.....so i wouldnt bother..they must be a very low grade , best bet is to cover em with heatshield wrap, if they bother you
Thats a shame, was up for breaking out the polishing mops, heatshield wrap?seen that do you reckon it looks good?not seen many bikes with it on.anybody have any pics?
If you have a few quid spare you could get it ceramic coated by these people http://www.camcoat.u-net.com/Exhausts.htm they do a chrome effect too alot of people on another forum I used to frequent used them for tubular kit car exhausts and always said good things about it.

I did the same, took my downpipes into work, cleaned all the crud off and lightly polished them....they stayed nice and shiney untill i started the bike for the first time, them they tarnished,
i've been going to use camcoat for a while now but never got round to it again, think it will work out about £70-100 for the twin downpipe to be croamed
bob aka vtrbob has fitted exhaust wrap to both his storms....u either like the look or u dont...a m8 of mine gets em chromed, but the chromers aint too kean on chroming old exhausts cos it ruins there chroming tanks!!..but could be worth a look..imagine chromed exhausts..look the dogs and no cleaning/rusting etc
