There was a post from another new member who posted his first post with a question, about starting his VTR every couple of weeks, someone told him that could be doing more harm than good :!:

Kaz replied so did Zakalwe and myself, I bet he wonders where his post has gone :!:

Welcome aboard Topper, sorry I couldn't remember your name :!:

Just to put you in the picture, it's not a normal occurrence for posts to disappear on this site. Although I have heard of others very occasionally say it's happened to them, it's the first time it's ever happened to me and I've been here for years :D

Back to your question about starting your bike every couple of weeks, this is roughly what I posted:-

One of the reasons people say starting your engine every two weeks or so can do more harm than good, is that you are creating condensation in the engine oil, especially if you only run it for 5 or 10 mins.

The same thing happens when you go for a ride on the road, but because you are getting all of the engine oil hot with a decent run the condensation disperses, that's the difference.

My advice would be (seeing as you have been starting it frequently) to give the bike a oil and filter change once you have the bike on the road.

Thanks for that Chris, makes sense re oil & condensation. Have also used tip re Choke & tightening under ruber cover to hold it out.
Cheers Phil
