Anybody else find the facelift storm clocks hard to read?

Post by Firemonkey »

I have just bought a 2002 storm with the updated clocks with LCD section.

I find the speedo really hard to read. When I want to know my speed, I find I am having to spend much longer looking down than I am comfortable with. I have just come from the big digital speedo of a CBR but have used analogue speedos before with no problem, it just seems to be the way the dial is laid out that's the problem. The positions of the numbers is weird, I'm used to the needle pointing vertically by the time you hit 70 or 80, it's still not reached horizontal on the storm at this speed.

Or is it just me and do I need to shut up now?

Ignore him  . Every review of the post 2002 Storm criticises the clocks as being near illegible. Stoopid, when it's your safety and licence at risk.

Now for a really clear digital speedo I'd recommend - Suzuki SV1000S

yeah some clock alternatives would be a great help...
i thought it was just me and my eyesite.. but glad to have heard that its not me....

i found it a freaking nightmare trying to read the speed in the rain..
as i wear glasses i cant lift my visor in bad weather, so having slight impared vision due to water on visor mixed with the small clock, = i got to guesstimate my speed

Always thought this 'new, improved' design was a styling package rather than a practical device!!!
You have to look too far away from the road etc to see the minute amount of movement.
How about a decent pushbike speedo set higher up? Used one on the '97 Storm (as a few on this site do) before I got a speedo healer. It was really accurate and might help your predicament as easy to read at a glance!!!

As LSM said they look better than the earlier clocks but then again I can see mine  Would like that fuel gauge though, the RLOD is a pain in the ass.

Thanks for the suggestion, might give that a go, I'm glad it isn't just me that's thinks they are difficult to read quickly whilst riding.

i thinkits cause they have only got like 3/4 of a dial to fit in what would normaly be spread a full 360 degre round a clock..

and when you just stand an look or look at those pics it all looks fine and tidy etc... but yup in practice a fast milli second glance is not enough to know how fast your doing,

I have these clocks on mine and deffo think they could be improved by just removing the 5mph increments to make them slightly less fussy.
