Had to laugh...

Post by Firemonkey »

I'm friends with a couple of bike clubs and went down to the Monday meet of the MTHeads Motorcycle Club in Rochdale. Everyone was really complimentary about the bike and particularly the monstrous sound from the Viper cans (soon to be replaced by Yoshi RS-3s).

Then my best mate turned up on his 99 Triumph Speed Triple with high-level stubby stainless. It's very loud!!! He walked up and in typical 'best mate' fashion proceeded to slag my bike off

"You wanna get yourself a triple. You're missing a cylinder there, oh hang on, they put an extra exhaust on to compensate...." blah blah blah.

Then he said, "And it doesn't sound as good as my Triple!" All of a sudden, about a dozen members of the club all turned to him and said, "Yes it does!!! It sounds miles better!!!" I nearly pissed myself, he was gutted!

Of course I then started the whole 'my engine's bigger than your engine' childishness to rub salt in the wounds ha ha   There's nothing quite like getting one over on your best mate :P

Now I like triple Triumphs (prefer Triple Kwaker two strokes but..........) and that 'backchat' sounds like std mates banter eh?
Great they put him in his place. Saves you doing it and is rather satisfying ha ha

  I like it Firemonkey

Mind you I also think the sound of a three cylinder is pretty good too, but not quite as good as a BIG V twin 8)
