Re: False economy
have you had your chain off and give it a serious clean? or are you already at the chains full extension on the adjusters.?yorkylancs wrote:Ok i know it should"nt be done, but has anybody ever put a new chain on old sprockets,my chain is shagged but the sprockets look good,if i got 5/6 thousand out of it would"nt bother me.Has anybody any experiences/mileages to suggest. It runs Renthal sprockets at mo,and they are supposed to be quality, cheers, its not just my chain that squeeks!!
on one of my old work horses the chain was well an truley shagged you there was play in every direction you could imagine on the chain..
but as already said if your sprockets have any wear on them they will only reduce the life span of a new chain..
but i suppose its your call on this one..

Its not at full extension, just seems to want adjusting after every ride. The little stickers, that are standard fitment on the adjuster went awol, ages back.It is currently at notch number 4.5 from the adjusting end.It seems to have stretched all of a sudden, all this shite weather, and running through winter...

not wanting to ask a stupid question, i take it from what you said you know what to look for on the sprockets for wear n tear?yorkylancs wrote:Its not at full extension, just seems to want adjusting after every ride. The little stickers, that are standard fitment on the adjuster went awol, ages back.It is currently at notch number 4.5 from the adjusting end.It seems to have stretched all of a sudden, all this shite weather, and running through winter...
