My new bike - first impressions

Looking good Ben

I'm sure you'll soon get used to her.
and I'm sure those local B roads will feel a lot better once the tempeatures come up a bit and give the suspension a chance to do what it's suposed to

Well its been a very up and down weekend

Squeezed 20 mins in the garage moving the levers, lubing the throttle &fiddling with the suspension
Then managed to get out for an early run on saturday (6.30am)

Big transformation
Riding position is now not a wrist breaker

Suspension now absorbs bumps properly

This bike feels SOOO brilliant on its side I cannot believe it

Upping the pace and really hustling the bike about & I barely noticed the steering damper

Then the downers started
Water misting out of the right side of the fairing
Slight oil mist getting onto the bellypan
Headed home and on the way the idle speed got progressively higher til I was having to keep the brakes on in the 30's to keep the noise &speed down
Parked up in the garage and had to leave it untouched but noticed oil spot on floor
Returned to it this morning to find oil spot had grown but was strangely thinner
Turns out it had been diluted by petrol

butt!
So my new baby is proving to be completely incontinent -hope this isnt an omen for the imminent sproglet!
And I'm really struggling to find time to get out and look at it

Oh mate that's a bugger, just when things were going sooo well too.

Hopefully it will be something and nothing so you're soon back out testing and tweaking.

We're having a few teething troubles with Wor Lass' Gixxer too - but having 'fun'? sorting it. Certainly learning a lot

I wouldnt be quite so peed off if I actually had the time to spend sorting it

The whole reason for deciding to let the Storm go was that I wanted something I coud just clean and ride without having to spend large amounts of time working on

Sorry, but this made me smile wryly. That is just the sort of thing I'd expect from a second hand (not Honda) bike!!! You will end up having to go all around it sorting those little reasons why someone else sold it on etc.
Not the end of the world and you get to know 'your baby' better but a bit of a b*tch if you are fighting time!!!

its like me and bob were saying yesterday, what with all the bikes weve owned, him 50?? me probs 30's over the years, weve had least hassle with honda's..
