My firestorm

Post by Hankie »

Well I managed to ride my new 'storm home on Saturday, 20 miles via the back roads (No Tax!). Just as well none of you lot saw me you'd have died laughing at my lack of riding skill. Anyway, things will improve I hope. I took it easy not just because I can't actually ride... but also I wanted to check the bike over properly before pushing it. Just as well - the chain needs replacing and is a bit slack even at the end of it's adjustment. A few pics:

It fits in my garage :o but there's not a lot of room to work on it...

I managed to snag a yella tank cover off Ebay:

And I added some DIY bling in the form of replacement bar-ends I turned from bronze. Originals were a bit scratched (not dropped, just encounters with garage walls I think).

I got the road tax but will have to service it and replace the chain before I put many more miles on it, but I really like the bike. I was lucky to get one the right (i.e, fastest and best looking) colour....

I don't think that's true - if you have no MOT then the insurance is def void, but no tax doesn't affect insurance [some legal expert will now tell me otherwise  ]....

Not having road tax won't void your insurance. Not having MOT won't void your insurance per se your road traffic act 3rd party will be safe but you will probably have a problem with own damage depends on the circumstances and the ins co. It's worth remembering that under recent legislation changes No MOT gets you a fixed penalty £60 ticket No insurance gets you a fixed penalty £200 ticket plus seizure of your vehicle, returned on production of valid insurance in YOUR NAME FOR THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION and payment of £95 + £12 per day. No licence = prosecution plus seizure of vehicle. Oh and all your details can now be checked at the roadside!! so you can't talk your way out of it.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.
