Ground Clearance...

Post by chuxsta »

i have just had a mail back from Devil Exhausts after i maield demon tweaks asking why the hi level devil cans they are selling are for 1997>2002 storms only.

devil said that they wont fit my 2004 storm due an issue of ground clearance when the cans are on.. does any one know if their is any difference between the pre 2002 and post 2002 storms?

i dont know much about the history on these bikes but i was under the impression that no major changes have been made in the 2k+ models..

they are saying that the cans n connecting pipes are ok on 2002 and before models... and that they wont fit on my 2004 model due to ground clearence issues if i fitted them..

but i cant work out how the connecting pipes to high lev cans will cause it..

i have looked at lots of pics and cant see any difference ..

if any one with a pre 2002 storm could take pics of the areas where the connecting pipes join the rest of the system i could see if there are any differences..

i have just emailed Honda asking if there were any changes in that area that would cause the problems demon geeks say..

It'll be interesting to hear if there were any changes made in the exhaust system.

I bought a while back from e-bay gorgeous titanium downpipes and headers (unknown make) which when fitted on my 2000 storm were frustratingly out of alignment* to the rest of the xaust.

After much head scratching I had little option but to return them and refit the standard set.

*Underneath the sump where it connects it was curiously offset by a couple or three cm and short by similar amount.

well there must be a few changes between the 97-02 storms and the 03-05 storms cause a lot of custom bits i have looked at have made a point that they wont fit storms made after 2002.

Agree with you, mate photo angles aside i can't see a difference.
I thought the only difference were the tank, clocks & paint ,but i also think they did do something with the suspension? maybe worth looking down that road?
