dodgy Key

Post by Ernie Cooley »

Before I start my VTR Model is the 04 with the HISS system

There appears to be a slight split developing in my Key (The black one) I do not have the red one as it was bought as a write off.

Can I get another cut? or am I buggered without the Red one?

The manual only states two keys and says nothing of them being different colours. It only says if all keys are lost then you will need a new ignition module. So as it sounds I would say that you will be able to program a new key (up to four) as long as you have one original key. Just remember that you will need to take all the keys you have with you when you get a new one coded otherwise they will probably not start the bike.

quick update

Dealer says, they will source 2 keys @ £20 + Vat each, get them cut and then take them with the bike and original key to the delaer and they will code them.

Mate works for the dealer and is doing it gratis for me, normally it is £40 plus VAT
