Well gone and dun it
Blown the Mrs Housekeeping on a new shock
Plumped for a Wilber’s shock from these guys

The shocks seem to have a good rep with a lot of BMW riders
And others when I did a web search
Ordered it to day will take about 3 weeks as there custom built from Germany
Having it set for my robust frame and increased in length by 5 mm to get rid of the spacer under the shock
Not a bad price at £440 +pp
It also comes with a 5 year warranty and a trade in facility if you change bike
I’ll update when it turns up and had a chance to set it up and evaluate

I really like Wilbers kit.

I was gonna get one. The funtionality you get for the price plus they build each one to custom spec means they're an absolute bargain when you consider what you get for your money. Well worth the purchase price in my book.

The guys in Germany were really good too, so I reckon support and service should be great too.

When the bike eventually gets sold all my modded parts will be coming off and sold separately so the loss on the shock should be a lot smaller. Spent about a grand on it over the winter and the bugger still looks standard. The next thing on the list is a set of rear sets then that’s it for the mods

Know what you mean kitch comparable shocks are a lot more pricey that was the thing that swung it for me was the price “cheep skate “ I’ll have to see how it holds up over time now but its gotta be better than the standard one

I’ve done the front already Tim just doing the bike in instalments as money permits
as for the kids and Mrs a bit of sufferings good for the sole and I’ve got my stash so I can nip of round chip oil when im a bit peckish :twisted:

Unfortunately you do need a screwdriver to alter the settings the
The coloured rings are the retainers for the high and low speed valves
Did post a brief first impressions for it
Haven’t really had time to sort the setting properly yet

I have Wilbers rear and Hyperpro springs-oil front for good 20 000 km now. in a word - BEATIFUL! Bike instantly felt TOTALLY different in both compfort and control. Exactly same happened in past to my Hornet when I swapped shock for Ohlins. E.g. stock shock does s...k big time on cheaper Hondas.
I got my Wilbers set up by factory and actually never had to change settings, all was spot on when combinet with Hyperpro springs/oil in front. I used Hyperpro recommended settings at front.
Having separate low and high speed (in terms of shock rod movement) valves in shock makes world of difference when road surface far from perfect.
