Australian FireStorm Record!

Post by VTRgirl »

I'm just home from a fantastic weekend with OzFireStorm at a tiny place called Walcha, in the middle of nowhere, but surrounded by some great roads, mainly the Oxley Highway.

We had 20 FireStorms & about half that again in ring-ins, including one numpty who owns a Storm, but rode his VFR instead  . Numpty! Mr Sharpest, a lurking presence here, missed the ride where this photo was taken 'cause his bike threw a tantrum, but Incy managed to snap 19 after gorillaring it up a nearby tree. Of course, there would've been one more if I didn't have to go pillion for the trip...

Pretty sure this is a record for Oz. Not sure about elsewhere. A newly licenced ring-in on a ZZR250 lost her footing, but jumped straight back on. Other than that, we had one decent off that we sent away in an ambulance. Collar-bone, shoulder-blade & half a dozen rib fractures, but he's all drugged up & will be back in the saddle in time.

This is our third annual meet at Walcha & it's easy to tell it's a great weekend because anyone who's been to one is always there in the years to follow. Looking forward to next year!

Thanks for missing me, Chris :D I've been lurking, but haven't exactly had much to say of late. It's easy to get a bit down without the ol' licence. One month, 2 weeks & 6 days to go, Timbo! And you're right. It's a six-month disqualification. I've been going to the gym instead, so look out! And you guessed the ring-in bit right. There are a few members who've moved on to other bikes now that the Storm's no longer being made, but also some non-members who were just dragged along for the heck of it. As you all know, we Stormers are such a good bunch, that nobody wants to leave! Gives us something to bag other than colour though

Fishface, I'm at work & the pic doesn't show, but it was taken from up a fairly decent tree, so I'm guessing the ant similarities come from there. LOL.

Bikerpiker, yes, that'd be MonoMaster's old Storm. There's a thread around here somewhere about it. He's truly a legend & can mono like no other. Spent a fortune completely redoing a Storm & then binned it at Walcha two years ago, practically on it's maiden voyage. Foot slipped off the peg & the rest was very, very quick, as you can imagine. He agreed with the Mrs to give up the roadies, so Nudenut bought the beast & resurrected it. This meant Nudie's brother, Bowler (named because of an unfortunate "stoppie" incident...) bought Nudie's old Storm & joined the flock. If you're interested in streetfighters or any mods, really, it's definitely worth hunting down Mono's thread.

Lawless, yes, I'm afraid we have the odd teal Storm here as well. We even have a teal with orange wheels 8O ! Thursday night saw most of the Queensland contingent at my place for drinkies & sleepies before heading off on Friday. We had 6 Storms there & probably could have fit them all in my garage, but since one was teal, we just made room for the other five. He was a newbie & needed to know his place  :P
