Hi fellas
I've read a few threads on here suggesting there's a bit of a knack to getting the seat off - and I've followed the step by step instructions to no avail thus far.
my question is whether there should be a click or clunk or something when I turn the key behind the seat, cos I can't hear or feel anything moving. I'm also having an occasional problem with turning the ignition key too so I'm wondering whether the locks are part-siezed?
tother thing is - numb right arm after only 20 miles of riding - presumably down to riding position rather than a limp wrist condition anyone else suffered & cured this? ta
from what u i can remember, with the seat, theres like a little pop, not so much of a click, then the seat pops up. With the ignition, isnt there steering lock? might be that. And with the numb hand, i had that too, when i first got my storm, i think my body just got used to the position.
Hold key open, grab the side of the seat and pull backwards and up at the same time. They dont all pop up when you turn the key, some need a bit of persuading.

I found the wrist position a little uncomfortable to begin with but I got used to it...there are excercises you can do to strengthen your wrists
I've even tried pulling with both hands while the missus holds the key open & the lil bugger still don't budge - I nearly pulled the bike off its stand
I think I'll have to pop down the whistlestop on a thursday & ask mike to have a go at it

if that actually worked I'd have wrists like popeye
seat on mine "pops" up, but only every now and then. When i turn the key, there is no noise at all! (the key simply releases one catch under the seat via a small cable)
as for your wrists ... have you thought about bar risers? i have some fitted on mine and they make the bike alot more comfortable!

As for the ignition switch, as Dazjm mentioned the lock. If the weight of the steering is resting on the lock pin that will make the key stiff to turn from the locked position to the ignition off position. Just move the bars slightly to take the weight off the lock pin, then turn the key. If thats not it, give the key hole a squirt of WD40 using the supplied straw.
Chris.
PS. The seat lock has been pretty well covered imo
just noticed I didn't post the cure on this thread.
cable was slack & the 'thingy' was bent - about as techy as I get replaced cable & copiously greased.

Try sitting as far forward on the seat as you can and holding your weight up using your back muscles rather than resting on your wrists, works for me
also just noticed when this was first posted, so you've probably cured your numbness by now
