Two Stroke Advice

Post by Beamish »

Fitting new piston and rings, any top tips for sliding the new piston into the barrel? Is it just oil the cylinder and squeeze the rings with pinkies to feed it in? Seems really tight but dimensions are all good.
1987 last time I rebuilt a stroker and cant remember what I used to do. Thought I just slid the bugger in

Back in my day we used a piston ring clamp to hold the rings in tight while you slid the piston in. Google "piston ring clamp"
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Yeah, or just use a suitable Terry clip if the job's a one-off.

Don't tighten the clip straight onto the rings - wrap some thin metal sheet round the rings/piston first, then the clip goes over the outside of that. Saves the rings snagging on the clip when you try to push the piston down the bore...
