If it's blown a new 30amp fuse then it's likely to be a short. Check no cables are trapped anywhere and look for damaged insulation at points where wires bend over the frame etc. Was it raining when this happened? (bike very wet). With the ignition off you could also connect a multimeter set to amps between +ive terminal on battery and +ive lead to measure current draw. Should not be more than 100-200 mAmp for the alarm (can't remember what the rating of mine is...). Disconnecting the alarm for this test would be good (but not simple). After that, you get into testing live (ignition/charging) and lighting circuits which gets more complex. Hopefully the cause is easy to spot.

I hate electrical problems, diagnosis can be tricky, take it to a dealer and you're paying for labour and they could tell you anything. Take it somewhere you can trust if you must take it to a LBS.

Hi Dan, this might be a long shot, but i should check your regulator/rectifier, as the symptoms you describe are the same that i had the first time mine went!!! that was an original gel reg/rec, before the better finned ones.

Hi giga.

I agree, get the rect/reg replaced.
Mine kinda went funny, not starting and the speedo went dapy on me. Wished I had know what and how much it was gonna cost me. New reg/rec plus Battery as it got cooked. 148 squid and lost 3 days work as was stuck over otherside of country.

I'd check the regulator too. It will fail at some point and to replace is easy. I got a finned one (can't remember who from, but google bike rectifiers and you will find them I think they were Electrex or something)

You can soon check it with a multimeter - there is a sticky on here somewhere with all the procedures and I followed it OK. I had never used a MM before!
